Make sure that you set your network up according to the directions explained in Network Installation.
This can occur in the following situations:
You manually copied the data files to the network drive, without using the Elite Payroll Setup Network Data Path function to copy the files.
The different copies of Elite Payroll installed on the network all see the network drive and path differently. For example—on one copy the network drive is X: and on another copy it is T:
Data files can become corrupted over a network if:
The network protocol isn't set up correctly;
The hard drive on the workstation or the server is failing;
The hard drive controller on the workstation or server is failing; or
The network card/hub on the workstation or server is failing;
One of the easiest ways to test and isolate this sort of problem is to create a file that you know the exact byte size and then to copy that file to the suspect computer. Once that is done, compare the file size on each computer to make sure it's the same—a failing network card, hub, hard drive or hard drive controller will cause the file to "lose" bytes in the transfer. You may need to swap out each hardware item until you locate the bad component.
